HEY MZUNGU!

Reception: 7-11pm, Friday, September 19th, 2008
Closing: September 27th, 2008

In May 2008, eleven students from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture traveled to Katebo, Uganda to collaborate with a non-profit organization. While living in a village on the shore of Lake Victoria, they worked with a local contractor to design and build a library for Katebo's primary school. Through photography, HEY MZUNGU! shares this experience. Mzungu is a Swahili word meaning 'white person' in East Africa, and appears in many Bantu languages of East, central and southern Africa.
